Since naming the Gang of Two went so well, it’s time to name the blog. It is shameful to have such a lameass blog name as Deborah Lipp. I comfort myself that some of my favorite bloggers have equally pedestrian names, such as Bob Harris and Roger Ailes.
It’s possible that all the really good names are taken, what with Alas, a Blog and Pink is the New Blog already snatched up. Nonetheless, I will try to carry on.
Still haven’t downloaded a poll plug-in, and won’t get around to it until after I finish editing the James Bond book, which I think will be this weekend. So you must struggle with text. I’m so sorry.
Most of the names I’m suggesting are specific references and I’ll be happy to elucidate, but they should also stand on their own.
Name the Blog
a) Practicing Witch
b) Property of a Lady
c) Mine is an Evil Laugh
d) Great Name for a Blog
e) But I Digress
f) From My Lipps To Your Ears
g) Don’t name the blog, keep it Deborah Lipp
h) Other
Give ‘Em Some Lipp
Fanty and Mingo.
Hey, it worked once.
How about “Curse Your Sudden but Inevitable Betrayal!”?
I like Toast’s suggestion, lol. I also like “Mine Is an Evil Laugh,” because mine is, too. 🙂
I was going to ban any Lipp puns, until I thought of (f). I assure you that I have heard variations on Give ’em some Lipp something approaching 43,000 times since grade school. It has genuinely not gotten funnier.
Neither has Lipps, Inc. or Lipp Service. Just don’t go there.
Of the nominations, I’d go with “Property of a Lady.” I would have gone with “Lipps, Inc” if not for the warning, but then I didn’t have your negative experiences.
On the other hand, the name of my blog is not:
For the Love of Benjy
Ben “Obi-Wan” Kenobi
or Ben-Gay
–all riffs on my name I heard in childhood.
Maybe you could go really obscure and name your blog “Pseudo Echo Cover Version.”
I’m torn between Toast’s suggestion and “Mine is an Evil Laugh.”
If it wasn’t impossible, that whole speech should be used. 😉
You should have known better than to put in an “Other” option. Now most of the suggestions will be in that category.
[waves at Tom]
“But I Digress” was the name Peter David (IIRC) gave his ruminations on comics. Just so you know.
I kinda like “Practicing Witch” with a subtitle of “Wait til I get it right! Bwahahahahahaha!!!1!one!”
Mind if I cross-post to Making Light? You’ll get some ..interesting.. ideas from that crowd, I’m sure!
You should have known better than to put in an “Other??? option. Now most of the suggestions will be in that category.
And yet, so far that hasn’t been the case.
Mind if I cross-post to Making Light?
Interesting ideas are my life blood!
How about “shaken not stirred”?
I think that in a through g my favorite is:
a) Practicing Witch (continuing to use the current subtitle of …stand back kids, I’m practicing)
My h) Other suggestion is [insert Bond reference here]’s School of Magic, such as Moneypenny’s School of Magic. Ya know, let people know what they’re in for.
Flamingo news and report
Along the lines of “practicing,” there was an old Bill Cosby comedy routine in which he’d call a medical intern thusly: “Hey! You! Almost a Doctor!”
So I humbly suggest Almost a Witch.
In regard to subtitles; it’ll definitely be something like “Deborah Lipp’s Blog,” simply because I have to have my name come up in search engines. I am promoting my books, after all.
As a Bond reference, I think “Shaken, Not Stirred,” is too played. I love “Moneypenny’s School of Witchery” (rather than magic) but I probably won’t use it. Still, fab idea.
Btw, Property of a Lady is a Bond reference; it’s a short story by Ian Fleming, much of which was incorporated into the movie Octopussy.
Barb, the Flamingo thing was a romance thing with the man I have not been married to in 8 years. So…not so much. 😉
Linkmeister, with all due respect, I passed Almost a Witch into Big Damn Witch about fifteen years ago. 😀
Keep those cards and letters coming!
The Witch’s Brass Bra Room
A nice spin or take on the Grand ball room, and the infamous brass bra pun.

Its ok It just happened to be on my mind, I bought an Alice in Wonderland (she is holding a Flamingo) Tree Ornament yesterday
[waves back] Jeff! Good to see you! How’s it going?
By the way, there is a LiveJournal blog called “Mine is an evil laugh”. (Found it doing a Google search to double check that the line came from where I thought it came from, which it did, which was very reassuring.)
Tom: Oh, how depressing. That was the leading contender and it’s taken.
Joe: No bra jokes! Geez Louise.
Barb: My flamingo ornament is wearing a Santa hat. He’s very cute. Isaac and I split custody of the ornaments when he moved out. It is very weird visiting his house this time of year and seeing the other half of my tree. :-/
I wasn’t the one giving classes on how to make an “over the shoulder boulder holdera’ out of simple scarving materials….
I revise my vote to b) Property of a Lady

And not on the Internet, I notice. Sort of just a couple of people around. You’d be amazed the breast-related things I can do with a small, select audience, that I won’t do in front of the whole goddamn world.
“This is not the Blog you are looking for.”
A shaken martini is weaker, anyway…that’s always annoyed me. So instead of “Shaken, Not Stirred,” how about “Stirred, Not Shaken”?
“This is not the Blog you are looking for.???
That made me laugh out loud, but I’m not really a big Star Wars person.

Actually, shaken is proper for vodka martinis, which is what Bond drinks. There’s a section explaining that in my forthcoming book.
I know you don’t like Lipp jokes, but “Deborah Lipps Off” just seems to work so well……

So not.
I shall name this new blog….NEW blog
I shall name this new blog….NEW blog
Awesome! Laugh out loud awesome. I think I’ll edit it down to “I shall name this blog…This Blog” but it’s definitely a finalist.
woo hoo
Lipp Rules — You have a lovely name. Leave it as is… Deborah Lipp.
Well, howdy Amy! The blog has been named Property of a Lady, but the main website is still Deborahlipp.com. 🙂
