I don’t know why I’m so high in Dixie…. except maybe the “y’all” thing, which is easily explained by growing up in an urban area where a large percentage of my classmates used it.
I suspect you’re right. I sometimes write “y’all” because it’s useful. But I recognize it’s an affectation, and not a natural part of my speech, so I answered no.
I’m 50% Yankee, 45% General American, 10% Dixie and 0 everything else. I have no idea where the Dixie came from. And I called an easy class a cake class, but there was no option for none of the above.

I expected my Dixie to be higher. My map of places I’ve lived looks like the distribution plan for Southern Living.
