I had just finished watching Season 7 Disc 6 of Buffy, finishing my summer project of re-watching the entire series, when I came here and found the quiz….. Funny coinkydink. So after taking the quiz I had to go back and watch Once More With Feeling again…… 😉
Once More With Feeling really is better than you can possibly imagine. Even after everyone told me how good it was, in my mind, I was downgrading it in certain ways; after all, just a TV show episode. So, maybe it would be as good as Hush.
But it wasn’t. It was a musical. It was as good as a musical. Still blows my mind.
It is stunning television.
He takes the vehicle of musical and turns it sideways. He exposes its secret which is: a musical exposes secrets. This is illustrated most clearly in I’ll Never Tell.
That is the beautiful unspoken fact of musical; that people are saying right to each other’s faces what they can’t really say, and you, as audience, are witness to that. It’s like watching one long dream sequence.
And now this group of folks who we (at this point) know so well does this before our very eyes. But most importantly, before their own. Because, unlike a regular musical, these characters are under a demonic possesion which is forcing them to sing and dance as if they are in a musical. And secrets are exposed; things are said right to each other that have previously remained living only in their thought bubbles.
And they sing and dance and everything gets blown apart.
Amy, feel free to contact the Quiz’s authors. Personally, I was disturbed it’s called the “Buffy Musical” instead of “Once More With Feeling.” With Quizilla, you take what you get.
I’m “Where Do We Go From Here?” And I do so love “Once More With Feeling”. Even the 8-year-old knows all the words to all the songs. Hmmm. Think I’ll go watch it now.
Too. Damn. Awesome.
I’m “Where Do We Go From Here.”
I’m not sure if this will work….. can we paste images in our replies?

The images don’t work because they have to be uploaded. But anyway, interesting responses.
Funny. I got “I’ll Never Tell….”

Uh, yeah. What she said.
I’m putting the epi on my iPod right now. Wouldn’t be able to think about anything else at the gym today so I’m just giving in.
I have to point out at this point that “Life’s a Show” is properly referred to as “Something to Sing About.”

I’m “Standing In the Way”
Oh, Giles, how do I love thee….
