What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Northeast
Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak. |

I have to question its methodology – it said my accent was from Philadelphia. Um, wrong end of New Jersey…
I have seen other people get inaccurate responses as well. But it’s good for me. ::shrug::
I think it’s a conspiracy by Philadelphians to make it look like a city of greater influence than it actually has π
It’s a definite possibility, but it also might be a conspiracy by New Yorkers to make our accent look less commonplace and therefore more elite.
Oddly enough, I get the Great Lakes region. I only lived there for two years. huh….I know I don’t sound like a Southern though.

Oh riiiiiiiggghhhtt…… Well, in that case I’m happy to take one for the team.
“Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you’re not from Philadelphia, then you’re from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you’ve ever journeyed to some far off place where people don’t know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn’t have a clue what accent it was they heard.”
Not native-born, but I’ve lived in Philadelphia for more than 20 years.
Note how I ignore Cathy’s comment (whispered aside: “Curses! She’s onto us!”) π
LOL @ Melville!
