1. With a place name as a title, this Western has two male stars who have both played heroes in major film franchises.
Half credit to Melville (comment #9)
HINT: This is a 2006 movie, and one of the franchises is James Bond.
Not actually solved by George (comment #17).
Ultimately solved by George (comment #19).
2. One of the stars of this multi-generational Western was best known for musicals, and even though the movie isn’t a musical, she does manage to squeeze a song and dance routine in.
Solved by witless chum (comment #11).
3. The hero refuses to be publically hazed by riding “Old Thunder,” but then rides him privately.
Solved by Melville (comment #9).
4. Man 1: “What did you say your name was again?”
Man 2: “I didn’t.”
Man 1: “No. I guess you didn’t at that, did you?”
Solved by Melville (comment #9).

Solved by George (comment #3).
1: Brokeback Mountain (I’m guessing)
No clue on the others.
Sorry, lame. bzzzzzt.
#5 is Stagecoach. #4 is A Fist Full of Dollars? #7 is Winchester 73, I think.
George, #5 and 7 are right, and #4 is awfully close.
When I saw “lock and load” over at Tom’s place, my first thought was Star Trek VI. Which might have something to do with why I don’t know the answers to any of these. 🙂
I’m going to say #4 is The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Is #1 Tombstone?
Oy. George is apparently the only person who reads this blog who likes Westerns.
I think #4 refers not to the Man With No Name, but to Harmonica Guy in Once Upon a Time in the West.
#1 is Silverado, the two actors being Danny Glover from the Lethal Weapon movies and Jeff Goldblum from the Jurassic Park movies.
#3 is Gregory Peck in The Big Country.
#4 is High Plains Drifter.
Melville, I wasn’t thinking of Silverado, but I have to give it to you that your thinking fits the clue. Your answers are all excellent.
Is #2 “How the West Was Won?”

Quigley down under. Crazy Cora=Laura san giacomo
no.6 Quigley down under
Sorry, sopka, that’s not it.
#6 has to be Johnny Guitar–doesn’t it?
Oh, and I cheated on #1 so I know the answer (a film I never heard of, actually) but won’t post it.
IMDB is wonderful, isn’t it.
George, yes and yes. Although the amount of careful searching you must have had to do on IMDb probably justifies posting the answer.
Oh, ok, Seraphim Falls. Had a feeling it was going to be a Brosnan connection as you’ve had so many Connery ones of late. Sure enough the film in question was Brosnan’s only 2006 release, and there’s Liam Neeson as co-star. It did take me a second to remember he was in the more recent Star Wars films since I hadn’t been able to bring myself to see any of them.
I saw the Star Wars film with Neeson, but not the other two.
I really would have had to wrack my brain to do a Western quiz with a Bond connection if I hadn’t known about Seraphim Falls.
If you wanted to push things to a space Western you could have gone with Outland.
