In Deborah’s absence, here’s a little trivia quiz for the Joss fans out there:
- 1630 Revello, Buffy’s residence [solved by Maurinsky]
- 2517: the year in which Firefly is set [solved by Amy]
- 1880 is the year William the Bloody Awful Poet is turned [solved by George]
- 11 Firefly episodes aired/14 episodes produced [solved by Maurinsky]
- “Counting down from 730” – the countdown to Buffy’s death [solved by Amy] (bonus point: 7:30)
- Room 619 at the Hyperion, where Jasmine stays [solved by George]
(hint: this belongs to a set that also includes 315, 215, and 217 (rooms at the Hyperion mentioned in Are You Now or Have You Ever Been?)) - Room 314, the room in The Initiative where Adam is born [solved by Amy]
Update: All solved except for the bonus point. I’m sure someone out there can give us 7:30.
5. is the countdown for when little sister arrives
is 1. Buffy’s SAT score?
I need to think about the rest of them.
is 1. Buffy’s SAT score?
No, but damn–I should have thought of that!
More guesses (it suddenly becomes abundantly clear that watching every episode multiple times is not enough to be a Buffy expert):
alternative guess for 1. The year Liam became Angelus
or is 1. the house number where Buffy lives? 1630 Revello Drive? That sounds right.
Maurinsky, you got #1. Your first guess was sort of on the right track for #5 (in fact, I almost gave you the point), but not quite there.
#3
1880 is the year William the bloody awful poet becomes Spike the bloody vampire (thanks to Drusilla).
#2: 2517 is the year “Firefly” is set in.
Oh oh oh! #7: 314 is the room number in the Initiative.
I should not be posting this right now…I’m late for an appointment with my thesis advisor…but I just got one! #5 is the countdown in the dream in “Graduation Day, Pt. 2.” It’s not the countdown to Dawn’s arrival, maurinsky thought, but the countdown to Buffy’s death.
Is 619 Joss Whedon’s Birthday? Or is that the 23rd of June?
#4: the number of episodes aired of Firefly/the number of episodes filmed of Firefly!!!!
Ouch…if maurinsky is right about that one, that’s not fair. I think of “Serenity, Pt. 1” and “Pt. 2” as too different episodes, making the count 12/15, not 11/14.
*two, not too. Stupid typo.
Spiralled, good guess…but no.
Maurinsky, you got it. And Amy, I think of them as separate episodes too…but officially, they’re just one.
Is 619 Tara’s dorm room number?
Maurinsky, it is a room number, but not a dorm room number.
#6
The room in the Hyperion where Jasmine lived in Angel.
P.S. I sang karaoke and Lorne told me the answer.
Lorne did not steer you wrong, George.
He came to me disguised as Google, but I recognized him anyway.
Great quiz, thanks Tom.
