The substance of magical writing, ancient though it is, survives in a very modern technique—affirmations. Affirmations are used by people who follow all sorts of different paths—Christians, Pagans, agnostics, New Agers—and many people don’t realize that in structure, form, and history, affirmations are essentially an act of magic.
Affirmations are a spell of Air, using repetitive spoken or written language to imprint a magical goal onto the self, and/or to send energy in the form of a message out to a target.
Yes, I wrote it. It’s from The Way of Four Spellbook. I keep the books I’ve written in a little cubby just above the computer (handy for reference), so when a meme says “nearest,” unfortunately I am drawn to solipsism. Kona wanted an Ian Fleming book, but they’re all downstairs.
“The issue of a certified copy under this section may not be considered in determinining the maximum fee of the office.
“An officer who is authorized by law to take acknowledgement or proof of a deed or other written instrument shall receive the same fee a notary public may receive for the same service.
“An officer who by law may charge a fee for a service shall keep a fee book and shall enter in the book all fees charged for services rendered.”
The nearest book was the Texas Notary Public Manual. Your desk is more interesting than mine.
That may actually win the Least Interesting Entry on the Internet prize.
Mine is up on Ye Olde Blogge
I win! Yes!

Oh, not quite. I think the winner posted on my blog..something from a UNIX manual.
😆
I made the mistake of clicking on your book link. I don’t know what it is about being unemployed and venturing into amazonia but I have an amazing craving to spend money. So I ordered a bunch of Radiohead CDs and that book.
I used to write a lot of affirmations about 20+ years ago and was really into it. I’m looking forward to reading your book!
Kona, I’m flattered. I hope you enjoy it. Sorry about the unemployment.
Sorry, I’m running behind–I’ll post mine this evening.
