A cat sling.
You ever see those baby slings? Yeah, like that. Because what happens is, the cat gets into my lap and then gradually starts to fall out.
Now, I like having him in my lap, but I don’t like being committed to holding him there. Yet it seems kinda cruel to just let him flop onto the floor due to excessive relaxation. Also, the mid-flop flailing can be hazardous.
A cat sling.
I think it’s a great idea.
Right now, a friend has a six month old male cat available for adoption at her shop. He’s a real schmoozer, and I think he’d love a cat sling. He already loves lying on his back in people’s folded arms. It seems a sling would be the next logical step for him.
Ok, I can take this to places that would be completely inappropriate, but I digress.
I think I’d like one of these as well. I still have the series of little puncture wounds left when Autumn, in a semi-comatose state, slipped off my lap.
I’ve wanted one for the ones that get really offended when you stand up also, they want to be carried everywhere.
Sophie could use a cat sling, i.e. “Ooooh, I’m so relaxed… wait, oop, I’m sliding, this ain’t right, hang on, claw claw claw…”
Mason could use a cat straightjacket, i.e. “Claw claw CLAW claw claw. Oh, and also, I’m relaxed. Claw claw claw. Claw claw. CLAW. Claw.”
Fanty could use a straightjacket. Just because she’s fucking crazy. Pet me! NO DON’T! Pet me NOW! Agh! You’re petting me!
Fucking crazy.
OK, so a need for a cat sling has been established. Is there any company making one? My big black kitty is telling me to hurry up and find or make one because he finds it uncomfortable to try to rest his head against my arm when I’m typing on the keyboard. Continuing to think about this. I’ll report back if I have any success with tying long scarves or something similar. I don’t need a “cat sling” to carry him around; he’s way too heavy for that. I need something for while he’s on my lap while I’m type, type, typing away.
OK, we’re trying Experiment #1: a long scarf draped around the back of my neck. Short side held under armpit. Long side extends down at my side to form a sling for cat’s head and neck, curves under cat’s body and tucks in between my knees. Kitty in question tried it for a little while; he’s not sure, but it’s an invention in progress…
Wow, you’re industrious.
