Name the actor based on the roles (I sincerely hope I avoid using an actor from a previous entry, but I don’t keep a database of these things).
1. The captain of a downed plane, Wyatt Earp, an engaged man in love with his neighbor.
Solved (eventually) by Hazel (comment #9).
2. A nurse in a mental institution, a scriptwriter on a soap opera, a bank worker who receives a strange message.
Solved by Melville (comment #2).
3. An ex-con short-order cook, a real estate salesman, a diabolical law firm owner.
Solved by Melville (comment #2).
4. A charity worker in Africa (now traveling through Europe), a saint, a stage star in love with a married man.
Solved by George (comment #11) and by Hazel (comment #12).
5. A petty criminal with a bad limp, a serial killer, a pop singer.
Solved by Hazel (comment #1).
6. A cross-dresser, a nanny, the queen of a magical land.
Solved by Tom Hilton (comment #6).
7. A gay painter, a motivational speaker, a sitcom star.
Solved by fiona (comment #4).
#5 is Kevin Spacey
#2 is Whoopi Goldberg.
#3 is Al Pacino.
Is #6 Cate Blanchett? Also, is #1 Kurt Russell?
is #7 Greg Kinear?
Everyone is right except Evn, who is wrong.
Is #6 Julie Andrews?
And both James Stewart and Dennis Quaid meet at least two of the criteria in #1.
I think #1 is James Stewart except I don’t know the third film (the first two are (maybe) The Flight of the Phoenix and Cheyenne Autumn).
It is James Stewart – the film is Bell, Book and Candle.
I was thinking of Julie Andrews for #6, but couldn’t think of a movie where she was queen of a magical land. What was it?
I’m thinking of a lot of Wyatt Earps, but I can’t think of any movies that match the other clues. 🙁
#4 is at least 2/3 Ingrid Bergman. (____, Joan of Arc, Indiscreet)
By George! (sorry), #4 is Ingrid Bergman because she plays a missionary in Murder on the Orient Express.
I’m giving #1 to Hazel because she got all 3 films. I’m giving #4 to both George & Hazel because it appears to me (correct me if I’m wrong) that Hazel needed George’s #1 & 2 in order to put it together and get #3.
Mel, Julie Andrew voiced the Queen in Shrek 3.
Okay I’ve been refreshing for hours and I JUST NOW see the post.
And yet I still suck.
Surely you would have gotten Kinnear if fiona hadn’t gotten it first!
I think I should get partial credit for #1.
No, I only know the gay painter, which wasn’t enough to give it to me. It’s Spacey and Pacino that I think I would have known, but it’s hard to tell. My brain doesn’t do well on these.
I actually knew three of these, but a long lunch meeting kept me from playing my regular weekly round of “Refresh Deborah’s Blog Every Ten Seconds.”
Okay, I give Tom 20% credit on #1 for knowing 1/2 an actor for 2/3 of the question.
