Come on, the parallels are perfect: A brain injury (Dorothy had a concussion, House had a gunshot wound that did we-don’t-know-what) leads to a complex hallucination that fulfills the patient’s fantasies, gives insights in to his/her problems, struggles, and needs, features people from the patient’s real life, and ends when the patient returns to consciousness.

Nice take on it! 🙂 At first, I was getting really bad “Who Shot JR?” vibes, but then I kind of got into it.
The only wrench in the Oz analogy is that when he regains consciousness at the end, he asks for the treatment that supposedly caused his brain-meltdown in the hallucination, so who knows what will happen when he ultimately regains consciousness after the surgery.
I don’t think so. I think he used his hallucinations in a very House way; to figure out what was wrong with him.
He woke up long enough to ask for something designed to treat his hallcuinations, because the team wouldn’t know he was having them.
But the ketamine-induced coma was what, in the hallucination, created the brain-meltdown, so why then ask for it when he regains consciousness before the surgery? That really threw me. House wouldn’t be about risking his mental faculties to lessen pain or strengthen his leg.
I’m not sure, but I suspect he took the ketamine as a hint, in other words, his brain was telling him “ketamine,” and he worked the problem enough to understand it.
We’ll know in the fall, I guess.
I’m looking forward to seeing the beginning of the series starting next Tuesday….We kind of picked it up halfway thru the season….
Also thankful that “Rescue Me” is coming back on next week….
