Publication Delay

The Ultimate James Bond Fan Book will be released September 30, not June 30.

I just found out about this. Literally, about 12 minutes ago.

The good news is that the book is huge, and lavishly illustrated, and meticulously typeset and has (as my publisher said) more charts than a Ross Perot presentation. The delay puts it closer to the movie release, which is almost certainly for the best (and which was the reason for the change).

Still, for those of us (me) who have been waiting breathlessly for the book, it’s a little disappointing. But mark your calendars, boys and girls, September is just around the corner.

Starstruck Bond

Because Daniel Craig was on the cover of Caesars Player, my mom saved the issue for me (I didn’t even know she was in Vegas!).

The article was mostly same-old, same-old, but there was a nice bit in the interview about how Craig felt being an actor:

Craig doesn’t hesitate to admit his own awe of Hollywood luminaries. “I think when I did Road to Perdition and was sort of confronted by Tom Hanks and Paul Newman, it was half an hour before I managed to get out of the rabbit-in-the-headlights thing and go, ‘Hey, you’ve got a job to do here, better get on with it.’…I’ll quite happily admit that I am star-struck. That’s why I’m in the game. As I said, I wanted to be an actor.

Bond Collector’s Weekend #9

I am so excited to be going to this event. I had a good time last year. In fact, I had a great time, despite sore feet from all the walking.

This year, the “weekend” (Friday through Monday) will be a Carnival Fascination cruise. Saturday will be the Death March through Nassau (and in August, I imagine it will be genuinely deathly). The rest of the time will be shipboard. My only disappointment is that some of the wonderful friends I made last year won’t be able to attend this year.

I am so thrilled. Arthur is joining me. The ship has a spa, pools, nightclubs, dining, lots of amenities, and an entire teen program with a lounge, video games, and (best of all) other teens to hang with. I’ve always wanted to try a cruise, and I loves me some spa time.

I have an evening gown, new shoes, new Death March shorts, and my costume is just about together. Can’t. Frickin. Wait.

This time, for sure, Rocky!

Okay, here’s the totally official trailer. In English.

I am too thrilled for words. It really is a wonderful snippet of film. Oh, Gods, she says “blunt instrument”! I love Fleming references.

Big Bond News

I mean BIG.

So big.

Teaser trailer is out. It’s in French but Oh. My. God. I’m drooling.

And as if that’s not enough, I have new wallpaper.

Oh, happy day to be a Bond fan.

Update: Nevermind.

Too Good for James Bond

Via CBn comes this fabulous review of the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage. It’s not like I’m ever going to buy a $150,000 car (or even know anyone who does) but the review is so well-written, so entertaining…here’s an excerpt:

Now I don’t mean to boast, but after a couple of minutes of brushing my electric toothbrush automatically switches to an intermittent buzz to stop me wearing my teeth down. It’s quite useful for those days when you might all too easily stand semi-comatose in front of the bathroom mirror all morning, and I can’t help thinking they should fit something similar to the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage to stop you frittering away entire afternoons gazing at it in a similar dribbling trance.

Like those Michelangelo sketches at the British Museum or that photo of Sienna Miller in February’s Vanity Fair, this car is hypnotically, intoxicatingly divine.

Go read the whole thing.

The buzz she begins

CommanderBond.net has a nice preview up of The Ultimate James Bond Fan Book. The article also links to a discussion topic on their forums, which has been lively.

Barbara Broccoli is in denial

I love this quote:

“His teeth are fine, his driving is fine, he doesn’t have heat rash and he’s not afraid of the water.”

CBn has a good summary of this Variety article, interviewing co-producer Barbara Broccoli on the new Bond movie and Daniel Craig.
