So what’s going on?

Well I had an absolutely amazing time in the Bahamas. I saw sites that would make any self-respecting Bond fan drool in his shoes. (Which, not a pretty picture.)

I have a firm intention of writing it all up and making you drool. I do. But then other shit happened.

So first, my book didn’t arrive in time to bring on the cruise. So the printer shipped it to Carnival so that it would be there on arrival. I have the packing slip; it says “Deborah Lipp–Arriving 8/14/06”. Not a lot of margin for error there.

Only there was error.

So my box of books is sailing the seas, having been placed on some other ship. I haven’t seen it. No one got a copy. Carnival has “opened a file” for me. You betcher ass they have.

Meanwhile, this box is from the first printing. Second printing goes out in two weeks and I’m working 3–4 hours a night on indexing and final edits. The day job is unusually busy, the night work is keeping me up until 1 a.m. I’m too old for this shit. I haven’t turned on the TV since I got home.

And tomorrow I leave for my next gig.

So, sorry for the light blogging.

Friday Kittenblogging: No Flash

I finally realized that the way to photograph the Gang without them squinting is just not to use the flash. I tried early in the morning when my bedroom was sunny.

Mingo is quite fetching.

Nice fit. Dig the tail on the footrest.
Mingo does the streeeeeeeetch

Phew, made it

400-plus miles. Set up camp. 90 degree heat. Sun poisoning. Dress Like a Pirate Night. Viking attacks. Pool. Workshops. Sarongs. Rain. More rain. Break camp. 400-plus miles. Pet cat. Open mail. Where’s my Netflix?

Later.

Friday Kittenblogging: The Little Prince Edition

Today it’s The Little Prince edition of kittenblogging.

Every time I make the bed, all or part of the Gang must plant himherthemselves in the middle of things. Usually Mingo, and usually he waits until after the fitted sheet has been put on. I then proceed to fan out the top sheet as if there were no cat there. I’m fun that way.

Now, if I do this to Fanty, she looks up in horror at the sheet looming above her and runs away. But if I do this to Mingo, he just hangs out.

What’s that smell?

There was a funny, chemically smell in my bedroom last night. After sniffing everything I finally realized that it was the computer. The too-hot-to-touch computer. That one.

So right now I’m backing up everything to CD. Normally I back up to the second hard drive, on the unassailable logic that they both won’t crash at once. But if the computer explodes that logic won’t actually work.

Oy.

I sold my first items on e-bay

Okay, I earned less than $40 total for both sales, but still. I have overcome the intimidation of learning a new computer skill, and one that involved money.

I realized the other day that the reason I’d never sold anything on e-bay was that I didn’t have a digital camera, and hey, I bought a camera last December, so no excuse. So I sold some inexpensive stuff; makeup I’d never touched, to sort of break myself in.

I’m pleased to report I’m not actually broken.

Friday Kittenblogging: In the Box

He’s just so damn cute. Unfortunately, as you’ll note in the picture, he’s gnawing on the box. The gnawing is less cute than the jumping into things.
