Did I do television trivia? I thought I did television trivia last week, but it must have died in the server crash. Anyone remember?
This week I thought we’d do Great Movie Trivia. Every movie is on AFI’s Top 100 Movies (10th Anniversary) list. If we do this again, we’ll use a different list.
1. He’s coming dangerously close to having the amount of money he promised his fiancĂ© he’d raise before marrying her, but he’s in love with someone else.
Solved by Hazel (comment #12).
2. The little girl videotaped herself before her mother killed her.
Solved by Susan of Texas (comment #3) and Roberta (comment #5): TIE
3. “Shut up and deal.”
Solved by Melville (comment #1).
4. Hal Holbrook in a dark parking garage.
Solved by Melville (comment #1).
5. “Dear, what is your first name?”
Solved by Susan of Texas (comment #3) and John Calligy (comment #6).
6. A British reporter wandering through a huge bus lot, narrating into a tape recorder.
Solved by Melville (comment #1) TIE.
7. Drunk, she insists on calling him “Professor,” although he asks her to stop.
Solved by Hogan (comment #2).
#3 is The Apartment
#4 is All The President’s Men
#6 is Nashville
#7 is The Philadelphia Story.
#2 Sixth Sense
#5 African Queen
Last week there was no trivia because of the server crash, but the next day we talked about the movie quotes we use in everyday conversation (“BOIDS! Filthy, disgusting, disease-ridden boids!”)
#2 is the Sixth Sense.
#5 is The African Queen.
Ugh. Everyone got the ones I knew before I even got here.
Everyone got the ones I didn’t know before I even got here.
Tom must be listening to the Fresh Air with Nick Cave. Sorry, Tom.
Is #1 Bringing Up Baby? That would be a high concentration of Katherine Hepburn.
#1 is not Bringing Up Baby, although I’m perfectly capable of doing something like posting 3 Hepburn movies without realizing it.
Susan, you got stuck in the moderation queue for no reason I can determine. Thus, the questions you answered correctly appeared unanswered, and other people answered as well. I’m giving “Tie” credit.
By carefully studying the Top 100, I think #1 is Swing Time.
Good studying, Hazel.
