It’s Tuesday…you have to get your trivia fix. I understand. So while I don’t have one of Deborah’s carefully crafted quizzes on hand, I do know that there must be trivia on Tuesday.
So this week we’ll do something a little different: a Whedonverse trivia open thread.
Here’s how it works: I post a trivia question (related to Buffy, Angel, or Firefly); whoever answers correctly gets to post another one; and so on, for as long as people want to keep it going. If you’re certain of your answer, go ahead and post the question; if not, let someone confirm first. If you don’t have a good question to hand, you can waive, and then it’s open to the first person to post a question.
So here’s a not-too-difficult starting question: What distinction do Angel and Harmony (and only Angel and Harmony) share?
Weren’t they the only characters to appear in the pilot of “Buffy” and the final episode of “Angel”?
Bingo! Your question.
I’m sorry, I meant the only characters who appeared in BOTH the pilot of “Buffy” and the last episode of “Angel.”
Mine, eh? Hmmm….
What’s the real secret ingredient in the Double Meat Palace burgers?
vegetables? I don’t remember specifically, but IIRC, there is no meat in a doublemeat burger.
You’re correct! They’re made from textured vegetable protein. Your question.
Name two of the three actors who have appeared in all three Whedonverse TV shows, and which episodes they appeared in.
(this is probably too easy for this crowd)
oh, if they appeared in more than one episode, just name the first episode they appeared in.
Okay, I know one of those:
Carlos Jacott
Firefly: the pilot
Angel: the ep. where Doyle’s ex was going to marry him (“Bachelor Party”?)
Buffy: “Anne”
Do I get half-credit? 🙂
I was waiting for someone else to jump in, but nobody’s biting…so: Carlos Jacott (Anne, Serenity, and the Angel Season 1 episode where Doyle’s ex-wife is getting married) and Jeff Ricketts(Ariel, the second episode of the Faith/Buffy body-switch, and the Angel episode where Faith comes to L.A.–also in Season 4, as the crustacean thingy that worships Jasmine).
Next question: Which hypothetical alternate dimension does Tara find appealing, and why?
The hypothetical dimension without shrimp, because she’s allergic.
(And apparently there are four actors who appeared on all 3 shows – the guy who played D’hoffryn on Buffy was the doctor who could separate his various body parts on Angel and was in the Firefly episode Serenity – the Alliance guy who didn’t chase after them. Also Jonathan Woodward, who was in Conversations with Dead People on Buffy, several episodes of Angel as the guy who had a crush on Fred and eventually turned her into Illyria; and on Firefly as Tracy in The Letter)
Okay…..damn, now I have to think of a question.
Okay, another easy one….
what does the Mayor know is factually true?
There’s more than one way to skin a cat.
Speaking of the Mayor, he once asserted, “I’ve got two words that are going to make all the pain go away.” What were they?
Miniature Golf?
Miniature golf makes all the pain go away.
What was Tucker’s (Andrew’s brother) reason for training hellhounds to attack prom-goers?
A girl turned him down when he asked her to go.
And why is my last comment in moderation?
Sorry, Kathy–I have no idea why that wound up in moderation (and I didn’t even think to check).
No problem, Tom. My moderation feature is always kicking comments, and I rarely know why. 🙂
And — again — my trivia question is in moderation.
Ah, there it is. Thanks!
Okay, in which episode did Xander appear only in the credits?
A: “Conversations With Dead People.”
Q: In “First Date,” Giles uses a very unpleasant term that gets around the censors. To whom does he say this word, what is the word, and why?
Well, if no one else is going to take a guess, is it calling Spike a berk (sp?) because Spike thought he was the First? I don’t know what the word means, but I do know a lot of British slang goes right over our heads. (Yeah, we’ve been re-watching the last seasons recently.)
Good guess, Kathy. That’s it.
Fire off a question, Kathy: I’m all geared up and ready to keep triviaing.
Sorry — I’ve been at the pool with the kids.
Here’s an easy one. Name the two actors who appeared in both the premier and the finale of Angel.
Are you counting the finale as a two-parter, or do you mean the final episode?
Final episode.
Hmm… I’ve only got one. Actor.
If it helps at all, one of them is really obvious.
David Boreanaz, naturally.
Christian Kane was the second, I believe.
That’s correct!
Who was the first character to say “Shiny” on Firefly?
Kaylee?
Hm…I think it’s Wash.
I feel really dumb about not getting Boreanaz. I was thinking RIGHT inside the box on that.
d’Oh! I couldn’t think of Christian Kane…all I could think of was Charisma Carpenter, who appeared in the penultimate episode (hence my question).
We aren’t going to stop here, are we? Maurinsky, come back and give us a hint. 🙂
Or a ruling.
I tracked down shooting scripts, and if you start with Serenity it’s Wash. If you start with The Train Job, though, it’s…someone else. So for the sake of keeping the game going, let’s say it’s Wash, and Amy gets to ask a question.
Okay. Name the order in which the contestants of Slayerfest were taken out of commission.
In anticipation of this one being knocked off the front page, I just started a new thread (beginning with Amy’s question).
Ironically, the new post did in fact knock this off the front page.
